Pipistrello Table Lamp

The Pipistrello lamp, designed by Italian architect and designer Gae Aulenti in 1965 for Martinelli Luce, is considered one of the most iconic pieces of Italian modern design. Its name, “Pipistrello,” means “bat” in Italian, inspired by the lamp’s distinctive wing-shaped diffuser made of opal methacrylate.  

Originally created for the Olivetti showroom in Paris, the lamp combines sculptural elegance with functionality through its adjustable telescopic stem, allowing it to work both as a table lamp and a floor lamp. The combination of organic curves, industrial materials, and soft diffused light made it a timeless design classic still produced today.
